AI Chat Tools
Ask the Workestra AI to create, assign, and update tasks, start and complete cycles, and report on project health.
The Workestra AI can take action on the Projects module for you. Instead of clicking through forms, you can say "Create a task for Alice to ship the login fix by Friday" and the AI does it (after you confirm).

Opening the AI Panel
Click the floating AI button in the bottom right, or press the keyboard shortcut. The chat panel opens on the right side of the screen.
What the AI Can Do for Projects
The AI has access to these tools for the Projects module:
| Capability | Example Prompt |
|---|---|
| Create a task | "Create a high-priority task to review the Q2 budget, due Monday, assigned to me" |
| Update a task | "Move PROJ-142 to In Review and assign it to Alice" |
| Assign a task | "Assign all unassigned tasks in the Website project to me" |
| List your tasks | "What's on my plate this week?" |
| Start a cycle | "Start the next cycle for the Web team starting Monday" |
| Complete a cycle | "Close the current cycle and move incomplete tasks to the backlog" |
| Get project health | "How is the Website Redesign project going?" |
| Summarize a task | "Give me a status summary of PROJ-142" |
Confirmation Before Writes
Any action that changes data (create, update, assign, close) shows a confirmation card before running:
- The AI explains what it's about to do in plain English
- You click Confirm to run or Cancel to abort
- The action only happens after you click Confirm
Read-only actions (listing your tasks, getting project health, summaries) run immediately without confirmation.
Context-Aware
If you're on a project or task page when you open the AI panel, it picks that up as context. "Summarize this" refers to the thing you're currently looking at.
Permissions
The AI operates with your permissions. It can't create a task in a project you don't have access to, assign it to someone outside your workspace, or delete something you don't have permission to delete.
Next Steps
- Tasks — what the AI can manipulate
- Cycles — cycle start/complete actions
- Collaboration — AI doesn't comment on your behalf; you still do that
